“Woodland Breath” featuring fall leaves blowing in the wind during
a Northwest autumn.
Techniques & Materials
Once I found out this quilt would be folded to travel I knew I did not want
too much of a third dimension that would get crushed, so I opted for a fusing
method. I cut the freeform leaves out of various colors of silk dupioni, fused
and then appliquéd them to a cotton batik background. I had stamped
golden leaves on the batik background piece using lumiere acrylic paint. Batting,
backing, binding and sleeve are 100% cotton. Hot fix crystals were added for
the appearance of swirling winds and slight embellishment.
