will be held at the
Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

Quiltfest 2008 will be held at a wonderful new location. The Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle.
Plan to stay a night or two downtown enjoying the Emerald City. 2008 will feature more evening events. Start planning now to make Quiltfest more than a day trip. Consult their website for more information.  WSCTC

More about It's A Wrap:

Participants were asked  to interpret the excitement and anticipation that can happen when "dressing up" and going out to a special event wearing a spectacular piece of art.  Few limits were imposed on the artists. They were asked to make a piece that would be very wearable, not be more than 36" x 60", and be able to flow and drape nicely over the shoulders.

The results

are as varied as the makers and all are spectacular!  These wonderful wraps will be sold during the Quiltfest Gala Dinner & Auction in August, 2008.  Come to the Anual Meeting and be among the first to see them.

YOUNGSTOWN Cultural Arts Center

Youngstown Cultural Center SOME History:

The Youngstown School was built in 1907 to educate the children of mill workers at the Seattle Steel Company (the mill celebrated its 100-year anniversary last year as Nucor Steel Seattle Inc.). The wood schoolhouse was named for the nearby area which had just been incorporated into the expanding City of Seattle.  A new brick Youngstown School was built in 1917 next to the original school.

The school was closed in 1989 and in 1999,  the community began the process of bringing the building back to life. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center hosts 36 live/work studios for artists and 25,000 square feet of public space.
