This exciting new "3-D" exhibit, unveiled at APNQ's annual meeting in October 2005, will be on view at various regional quilt shops until its final appearance, in August at Quiltfest 2006. Click here to see the collection.
APNQ members selected at random were invited to participate in this collection, and the finished items represent quilters from every state and province in APNQ's region except the Yukon and Northwest territories. Nineteen extremely creative items resulted, ranging from hilarious to awe-inspiring in theme, technique and appearance. All exhibit considerable ingenuity and excellent craftsmanship. The purpose of the "Unconventional Treasures" exhibit is to demonstrate how quilters, as fiber artists, can reinterpret everyday objects into unique works of art.
Thanks to the generosity of their makers, the entire collection is a donation to APNQ. The boxes and bowls will be auctioned at the Gala Dinner and Auction in August as part of Quiltfest 2006, with all proceeds going to support APNQ programs.
Curator for the "Unconventional Treasures" collection is Susan Trent, APNQ vice president.
Ticket order forms for the Gala are available here (44K PDF). Absentee bid forms for items in the "Unconventional Treasures" collection are available here (28k pdf), or from our office in advance, or at the APNQ office at the Quiltfest.
